Live Music by The Williwaws!
The Williwaws play acoustic music like a breath of cold, fresh mountain air. Expect songs and tunes grounded in folk and bluegrass tradition, genre twisting instrumental work, and other delightful ear candy. Leif Karlstrom, violin and mandolin; Brittany Erickson, banjo, guitar, vocals; and Sean Peterson, bassist and composer.
Volunteers have already spent 150 hours in 2022 weeding, trimming, and mulching the park and spend over 1500 hours every year year in daily park clean-up and graffiti abatement. Come see our new lights and our bathroom remodel (in progress) paid for by Park Bond funds. Our events team has spent countless hours setting this up and have done a fantastic job engaging our community groups and organizations.
This year we had help from Allan Benevides and the Eugene Emeralds staff and they are generously providing complimentary tickets to an EMs game, hots dogs and vegan dogs via their food truck, and traded tickets for Sweet Life Anniversary cake for neighbors via a sign-in (and well behaved city councilors…) as well as a photo booth and an appearance by Sluggo riding an Arcimoto, and Spanish speaking players. Grace Fellowship church is providing tables and chairs, Rebecca Williams and Boys & Girls Club kids are organizing and run kids games, Former Slug Queen Kara Steffensen will drop by, and information booths on JWN history, Beyond Toxics, 350 Eugene, the Burrito Brigade, Willamette Valley Hardy Plant Group and Sara van Dyck with info about Native Bees, Fossil Free Eugene, Emerald Valley Electric Vehicle Association, EWEB with information about the new emergency water station at LEC (with some 3-gallon containers and other giveaways), and Lane County Extension Service.
We are also using the picnic as an opportunity to collect items for the Shelter Care supply Drive (Laundry detergent
, Toilet paper, Shampoo & conditioner (full size), Brand new pillows, Dish soap
, Hand/body soap).
Special thanks to Grace Fellowship Church for providing tables and chairs
