JWN Named "Finalist" for National Neighborhood of the Year
Jefferson Westside Neighbors
The national organization Neighborhoods USA has awarded a joint entry by three
Eugene neighborhood associations the "Finalist" designation in the 2011
Neighborhood of the Year program.
Jefferson Westside Neighbors (JWN), South University Neighborhood Association
(SUNA) and West University Neighbors (WUN) worked together closely on the
organizations’ “Heritage Crescent Neighborhood Livability Project” which
culminated with development standards adopted into City code to ensure infill and
redevelopment would be compatible with each neighborhood’s character and
would contribute positively to the surrounding neighborhood’s livability.
Upon learning the JWN/SUNA/WUN entry was a finalist, Paul Conte, JWN Chair,
said: “This is a tremendous honor for all three neighborhood organizations and
recognition of our successful collaboration over three years.”
Michael Kinnison, Neighborhood Services Manager for City of Eugene added:
“This is a great opportunity to showcase at the national level the impressive work
of our neighborhood volunteers.”
